My Cold-Weather Skincare Routine & 3 Essential Skin Tips

I always love sharing my skincare and beauty faves with you all and I realized that I haven’t shared what I’ve been using this winter! During the colder months, my skin tends to get dry and overall isn’t as happy and glowy as it is during the warmer months. I know most of us deal with this! While we live in Arizona and it doesn’t get TOO cold here, it still does get chilly and the wind and dryness in the air isn’t the best for my skin. After having Nellie I’ve been trying out a few new products and I am LOVING them!

I put together the 4 products I’ve been using for moisture and overall skin happiness below, as well as 3 essential skin tips that I’ve been keeping in mind this winter that have made a difference for my skin. Of course, everyone’s skin is different so make sure to find products that work best for your own skin type, but for me, these products have been working wonders.

My 3 Essential Skin Tips

Tip 1: Embrace the moisture

Keeping our skin hydrated is key. Swap out lightweight moisturizers for richer, more emollient formulas to combat the dryness. Ingredients like shea butter and argan oil work wonders for replenishing lost moisture and keeping our skin soft and supple!

Tip 2: Don’t forget the sunscreen

Yes, even in winter! Just because the sun isn’t shining as brightly doesn’t mean its UV rays aren’t doing their damage. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to any exposed skin, especially your face, before heading out into the cold weather. Bonus points if your moisturizer or foundation already has SPF built-in!

Tip 3: Be gentle with exfoliation

Exfoliation is key to sloughing off dead skin cells and revealing fresh, glowing skin underneath. But during winter, it’s important to be gentle to avoid further irritating already sensitive skin. Opt for a gentle exfoliator with fine particles or chemical exfoliants like AHAs or BHAs, and limit exfoliating to once or twice a week.
